Supply Chain
There’s no better place on earth to raise sheep, cattle and goats than Australia.
Our unique climate and environment means our animals can roam freely in vast unspoiled landscapes, grazing nutrient-rich pastures all year-round, ensuring consistent supply and quality.
Our industry is committed to producing safe, sustainable, high-quality beef and lamb, which is enjoyed in more than 100 countries worldwide. We proudly share our best produce with discerning EU consumers.

Animal Welfare
Australian red meat producers are committed to high animal welfare standards, recognising that livestock care is crucial for the success of farms, transporters, and processors. Australian law, aligned with World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) guidelines, enshrines animal protection at our core.
MLA collaborates with governments and the supply chain to maintain these standards through fully auditable welfare criteria. Additionally, MLA invests millions annually in research to continually improve environmental, animal welfare, and food safety practices.
This commitment ensures that Australian red meat remains a trusted choice for consumers worldwide.

Commitment to Sustainability
The Australian red meat industry acknowledges its environmental impact, with livelihoods dependent on the land. Consumers, especially in Europe, expect sustainable practices. Sustainability efforts include reducing emissions, minimizing water usage, and ensuring sustainable transportation.
MLA continually invests in environment and sustainability initiatives to improve environmental outcomes and productivity.

Food Safety
The Australian red meat industry is dedicated to producing safe, high-quality products for export. Recognised internationally for being free of major epidemic livestock diseases, Australia has developed the world-leading integrity systems, which ensures traceability throughout each animals’ entire life and consistently high quality.
Australia’s integrity systems are crucial for the safety and quality of Australian red meat, reflecting the nation's commitment to biosecurity and providing a competitive advantage in the global market. Australia's reputation for clean, safe, and high-quality red meat, along with efforts to meet specific market needs, enables exports to over 100 countries, including the EU.

Trusted Halal Credentials
Aussie Beef & Lamb is recognised worldwide for its trusted halal credentials. All certified Aussie halal meat is produced under the Australian Government Authorised Halal Program (AGAHP), which guarantees compliance with Islamic requirements, overseen by accredited Islamic organisations and government authorities.
Processing takes place in approved facilities with trained staff, while strict systems ensure hygiene, welfare, and full traceability from farm to plate. This gives chefs, retailers, and consumers the confidence that Australian halal beef and lamb meet the highest standards of integrity, safety, and quality.
