Flat Iron Steak with an Asian Inspired Warm Salad and Soy and Ginger Dressing, Topped with Toasted Sesame Seeds


  • 1 flat iron steak 
  • 100g egg noodles 
  • 1 carrot 
  • 1 stick celery 
  • 1 bunch asparagus 
  • 10g sesame seeds 
  • 5 shiso cress 
  • 15ml soy sauce 
  • 10ml ginger juice 
  • 5ml mirin 


  1. Portion the flat iron steak and trim it into a clean steak. 
  2. Prep the mise en place (carrot, asparagus and celery) into Julienne cuts. 
  3. Bring the water to the boil for the egg noodles and add shiso to a bowl of cold water. 
  4. To make the soy and ginger dressing, mix soy, ginger and mirin.  
  5. Whilst cooking the egg noodles, sear off the flat iron steak for a minute each side and leave to rest. 
  6. Mix the cooked noodles with the mise en place and add half of the dressing for flavour.  
  7. Toast the sesame seeds and portion the steak, add on top of the noodle salad. Top with sesame seeds and shiso.
